The Hong Kong Museum of Art

Museums are still one of the most visited attractions wherever your destination maybe. In Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Museum of Art is one of the Museums in Hong Kong that is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. With the aim to preserve the cultural heritage of China and promote art with local focus, the Hong Kong Museum of Art has now over 15,000 of art objects that include Chinese paintings, art works, treasures, and creations of local artists.

Aside from the artworks and various collections, tourists will also enjoy the special and permanent exhibitions held at the museum. Permanent exhibitions include Chinese Gold, A Selection of Cinese Paintings from Xubaizhai Collection, Gems of Chinese Ceramics from the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and the New Literati Painting.

Various activities are also available at the Museum wherein kids and adults alike will surely enjoy. They have the Special Lecture, Video Program, Art Demonstration, Art Workshop, Public Guided Tour, and a lot more.

The Special Lecture is held at the Lecture Hall and accommodates 150 seats on a first come first serve basis. They also have the Video Program that is available every Wednesday and Sunday at 4:45pm featuring various art related topics. Tourists will get the chance to witness an actual making of art pieces with the Art Demonstration and features various artists. The Museum also holds and art workshop for adult and families that tourists will surely love to join. The Museum also offers public guided tours in three languages including English, Cantonese, and Putonghua.

The Hong Kong Museum of Art is open daily at 10:00am to 6:00pm and 10:00am to 8:00pm on Saturdays. The museum is closed on Thursdays except public holidays and on Christmas Eve and Chinese New Year’s Eve, the Museum is closed at 5:00pm. On the first two days of the Chinese New Year, the Museum is also closed.
